The Insitut für Weltkirche und Mission (IWM) is a scientific Institute of the German Bishops' Conference at the Philosophisch-Theologische Hochschule  Sankt Georgen. It was founded on June 29th 2009  and is committed to theological research and education that reflects on issues of global church and related projects. The focus of its work lies on mission as it is carried out by the Church.

Founding the IWM provides an opportunity to encourage the theological research conducted in the area of missiology as well as providing an international theological forum. The research projects of  IWM's own associates, externally founded projects, symposiums, conferences, talks and finally publications each contribute in their way to realize this aspiration.

Furthermore the IWM offers its theological expertise and the professional evaluation of projects and joint ventures to German organizations involved in global church.

• mission and education
• migration / global church in Germany

Founding director of the IWM is Prof. Dr. Albert-Peter Rethmann.
