The Institut für Weltkirche und Mission (IWM) is concerned with the multitude of possible concepts for a Mission Theology of the 21st century. The IWM takes its theological thought process to be founded within the tradition of the Second Vatican Council. In that way it tries to define and meet new challenges of a modern Mission Theology.

Special interests of research and education stem from questions concerning mission history as well as challenges and opportunities of cultural integration i.e. contextuality if not relativity of theological thought. Adding to that other projects work in the areas of health and education in a mission context and the phenomenon of migration in Germany and its manyfold implications for the local parish.
