Rahel - an education project for Adigrat

The education project ‘Rahel’ supports young adults – especially young women – by way of sponsorships and accompanies them and their studies at the local college of Adigrat (Ethiopia).

The idea for the project arose on the occasion of Prof. Albert-Peter Rethmann visiting Adigrat.

Students and staff of the Phil.-Theol. Hochschule Sankt Georgen (Frankfurt Main) as well as young adults develop and support the project.

Also supporting the project is the Institut für Weltkirche und Mission.

The project is jointly conducted in cooperation with the local diocese in Adigrat. Adigrat is a city of the region Tigray in northern Ethiopia.

Here many young and motivated individuals are denied the opportunity to study because of poverty. They are missing a chance at realizing their potential. The project ‘Rahel’ is working to improve that situation.

It is a new project that implements existing education projects in the region and enables young people to study.

We very much appreciate any positive input, ideas and donations for the project.

To give you a frame of reference: studying in Ethiopia for a year will set you back 140€ (that includes study material, rent, food and travel costs).
